Family Connect in Minnesota Update
Family Connect Accepting Referrals
Posted by Mike Peterson on 11/21/2011Family Connect is now accepting referrals into its treatment foster care program. The first treatment foster homes were licensed October 1, 2011, and additional families are joining almost weekly.
Family Connect is extremely proud of the people joining the agency. These are experienced and skilled social workers and treatment foster parents who are transferring from another agency. According to Mike Peterson, Director, it is pretty extraordinary for a small organization to have the caliber of people we have.
Family Connect will consider the referral of any child or youth who can best be served in a family setting while ensuring that the treatment and safety needs of the child, family and community are met. For information about possible referrals please contact Family Connect at 507-259-9755 or by email to lkrueger@pathinc.org.National Adoption Day

Minot Area Recovery Fund
The Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) has established the Minot Area Recovery Fund to respond to the extensive and massive devastation caused by the historic flood of the mighty Mouse River in 2011. The fund will support flood relief and restoration efforts in the four county area affected by the flood, including Renville, Ward, McHenry and Bottineau counties.
MACF is working to coordinate with local providers and other funders to help meet short, intermediate and long-term needs that have developed as a result of this flood.
We have now finalized the details of the Immediate Needs Grant Program. Our intent is to award grants to nonprofit organizations, church groups and public agencies whose services, programming and mission will directly have a positive impact on flood affected individuals and families. We feel these entities are equipped to assess individual and family needs on a case-by-case basis and administer funds effectively.
To read more about eligibility and view the application, please view the link or you can visit our website www.centerforcommunitygiving.com and access the program information under the Grants & Scholarships tab. The deadline to apply for this program is July 15th, 2011.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me, preferably by email at nonprofitctr@srt.com. Please feel free to share this information with any organization that you know of that is helping people in the flood relief and recovery effort.
